Support Valley Community Development

Donate now!

Why donate to Valley Community Development?

  • You can help provide affordable housing to 125 people with low-incomes in Northampton and Amherst.
  • You’ll support small businesses learn the skills needed to be viable and contribute to a thriving community.
  • Your donation will help first-time homebuyers get ready to buy and provide financial literacy counseling for current and prospective owners.
  • You’ll help us create 180 new affordable homes and apartments for people in the next five years.

We are successful because we have a talented staff, a devoted Board of Directors, and robust support from our community. As one of those supporters, you know that economic diversity, access to safe and affordable housing, and robust small businesses are at the heart of our vibrant community. But did you also know that almost half of our operating budget comes from donors and local business and banks who believe in our mission and work? We need your financial  support, just as we also need your voices in support of our work at town select board and planning board meetings.

Donating any amount will help support and sustain our efforts. We appreciate any contribution you can make!

Community Investment Tax Credit (CITC)

The CITC provides a 50% tax credit against Commonwealth of Massachusetts tax liability. The CITC program is a refundable tax credit. Valley and other qualified CDCs in Massachusetts are thrilled to be part of this program. If the donor does not have sufficient tax liability, the credit is refundable, the Commonwealth will issue a check for the balance of the credit to the donor. The minimum donation each year is $1,000. Individuals, Corporations, and some foundations can take advantage of tax credit.

This program is designed to leverage private contributions to support a broad array of community development efforts like affordable housing, homeownership services, and small business services which help local communities thrive.

Just $85 a month will allow you to participate in this program. Your CITC donation will be leveraged to strengthen our programs and produce a greater impact in our local community.

You can read more about the CITC here and Valley Community Development’s three-year Community Investment Plan (CIP) here.
