Are you thinking about buying a house? Are you completely overwhelmed by all the acronyms and loan options? Valley CDC can help you sort them all out with our valuable homeowner services.
Valley offers several different services for First-Time Homebuyers, Homeowners, people buying homes in Massachusetts, and people dealing with foreclosure:
First-Time Homebuyer Education
Buying a home is a big deal! Our options for the live First-Time Homebuyer Webinar Series or the go-at-your-own-pace Framework First-Time Homebuyers Course are both excellent preparation.
Individual Counseling
Our individual counseling sessions focus primarily on income, debt, credit, and how best to help you achieve sustainable homeownership.
Grants and Subsidies
Several towns and cities in the area are offering downpayment grant money and/or subsidies to help you purchase your first home. Our Homeownership Program staff would be happy to help you find out if you qualify. We only have one housing subsidy available for Easthampton at this time.
Post-Purchase
Congratulations! You bought a house! Now what? Don’t panic. We’re all about affordable housing and education. From weatherization to repairs, budgeting to home insurance, we can answer all your questions. We hold a post-purchase workshop twice a year, in the spring and the fall. Join us for lots of very useful, helpful advice from professionals in the business.
Home Modification Loan Program (HMLP)
Home Modification Loan Program (HMLP) is a state-funded loan program that provides financing to Massachusetts homeowners and small landlords for accessibility renovations to keep a household member with a disability or an older adult in their own home and community. HMLP provides 0% interest loans in amounts between $1,000 and $50,000 to homeowners for modifications to the primary, permanent residence of elders, individuals with disabilities, and families of children with disabilities.
Foreclosure Prevention
Even the best planning can’t take every emergency into consideration. If you find yourself behind on your mortgage and struggling to pay your bills, come and talk to us. Meet with Donna, one of our amazing team members who specializes in homeowner services – she’ll go over your mortgage and help you understand the terms of your loan and your next steps.
