Erica White and her husband James started White Hollow Yard and Home in 2020, combining general landscaping, site work, and interior design to help residents and businesses alike curate indoor and outdoor spaces that foster a sense of comfort and warmth.
Today, Erica and James have built a solid team and are focused on optimizing their workflow as the business grows. Erica says Valley’s financial analysis was critical in supporting this growth and has helped build her confidence in identifying which parts of the business to invest in.

Q: The team at Valley is already familiar with the great work you do, but this may be some folks’ first time hearing of you. Please give us a brief overview of your business: What do you do, and who do you serve?
I am the co-owner, along with my husband James, of White Hollow Yard and Home, we started this company in 2020. White Hollow Yard and Home provides general landscaping, site work, and interior design to residents and businesses in the Granby and South Hadley area.
Q: What do you love most about the work you do?
I think the feeling of home is really important and being able to help people achieve that feeling in their homes and properties is something that we really love doing!
Q: What do you hope people feel or experience when they interact with your business?
I hope that our customers have a sense of comfort. We are really particular about the team that we hire. That’s important for us because we run the business out of our home and they interact with our children. We want to bring that safety and comfort to our customers too, that’s one thing that really helps us stand out. Our customers tell us all the time how friendly and helpful our employees are. It is really important that our customers can trust them and go to them when they need something.
Q: How has Valley been helpful in how you manage and operate a small business?
Valley has supported us with financial analysis twice. The first time we had a financial analysis of the business done really helped me build confidence that we were growing in a smart way and investing in the right parts of our business. The second go around, we worked with Valley to have an assessment done that was used to secure financing. It was really great having that recommendation from Valley because the bank trusted it.
Q: Has there been a moment where Valley’s support made a real difference for you or your business?
The first go around of financial analysis helped me build confidence in our business. An outcome was helping us figure out what our overhead costs were and how that needed to be wrapped into our pricing, which supported our growth of 33% in the following year.
Q: What does growth look like for your business right now? What are you looking forward to next?
Right now we have a really solid team so we’re focusing on optimizing our scheduling and workflow to make sure that labor is being best utilized every day, so that everybody’s doing what they like to do and everything is running smoothly.
Q: Is there anything else you would like to share?
The team at Valley has been amazing. Eyad is wonderful, and I’m not the only person that has worked with him and has wonderful things to say! A friend of mine is a photographer that has worked with Eyad and it’s the same story. He really cares about his work and I trust that he knows what he’s doing with the numbers, and his recommendations of the next steps to take are actually useful. It’s not just ‘here’s an assessment everything is good or everything is bad,’ instead he provides something that you can do and that is easy to implement it and see results.
